wizard's chess

These days it is Harry Potter this and Harry Potter that. We are currently listening to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone as we drive from here to there. It is also Andrew's movie of choice. Whenever he watches Harry Potter he uses his light saber as a broom and a pen for a wand. He even puts on his bath rob so he can have a cape like Harry. The other day I caught him wearing my glasses...he said he had to have them. Of course I told him he had to take them off so that they didn't hurt his eyes. Now every day he asks me for his own glasses. He so cracks me up. Today at breakfast Andrew announced that today he wanted to play Wizard's Chest (Anne and Andrew call is Chest instead of chess). So after school today he thoroughly whipped me at Wizard's Chest...he knocked each of my players clean off the board. Gotta love his way of playing.

snow....at last

Did I forget to mention that we finally have snow here in Pittsburgh? This last week the kids finally got their wish and there was enough snow to play in. I don't get it. I freeze when I walk from the garage to the house. The kids would stay outside for hours if I didn't make them come inside. They love it! I love it too, just from inside looking out. Like I mentioned before the weather since it snowed has been freezing. When I say freezing I mean freezing. Yesterday it was 5 degrees. Today when I sat down to the computer it said 1 degree! Can you imagine that cold. I can.

Andrew making his first ever snow angel. No really...his first.

Look, I am Santa Clause!

no school

Today school was canceled. I think it was something to do with the fact that it is 5 degrees outside, although it could be some other reason. This led to great happiness in our house. More sleep for mom, more play for Anne and Andrew. We picked up Zac from work (he was on call at the hospital last night) and took him to a breakfast/lunch at a fun little cafe just south of Pittsburgh. It was super yummy. Zac said it was just like the breakfast I made. I thought it was better, mostly because I didn't have to cook it.
Zac fell sleep on the way home...so I had the kids go upstairs for a "quiet time." Let's just say there was more fun happening than quiet. While they were upstairs I was able to finish a skirt I was making for Anne. I made this one out of a old sheet set I used to sleep on when I was little. My mom was so nice to give them to me in June. I finished the skirt and Anne wanted to try it on for a spin. On went the music of course. She and Andrew are quite the dancers together. Very cute.

I love pictures of the kids when they aren't smiling because I told them to but out of pure happiness. All this spinning truly was making them smile.

andrew's 1st day

Today was Andrew's 1st day back to preschool. He really was so excited. He actually didn't even look back once he walked into his new class room. Wonder if he missed me at all? I missed him. It's no secret that the reason I call him "Buddy" now is because he really is my buddy. Although it is easier to go shopping with out his little hands touching everything I still miss him being with me. I am just glad he only goes for just three days a week for right now. I am not looking forward to kindergarten next year when both my kids will be gone everyday all day. I am one of those parents who prays for snow days. I miss hearing them laugh and play together.

christmas day 2

Once the snow in Washington let up Mom and Dad Turner were able to join the rest of us here at our house. The kids loved the idea of opening presents twice. We had so much fun opening presents then playing with all the new games that arrived. There is nothing like having family around for the holidays.

While on her travels in Germany Hava got all us girls these beautiful scarves. I am loving mine!

christmas train

The Monday before Christmas our friends Josh and Jeanette had us over for dinner and the building of the Christmas train. It was a good break from the normal Gingerbread House. Zac and I quickly realized that we would have to do all the work as the kids were only interested in eating all the candy. It turned out so great. Each car is a little candy dish...gotta love that at this time of the year. I think Zac's brother Brigg and my nephew Hyrum had the most fun making all that candy disappear...to think we almost made it out the door without a picture of all our hard work!
